Starting back Monday, but been doing some talking from the driveway..Everyone says it's a clear, loud talker that punches right through. Have managed to make a couple of contacts mobile to base over 50 miles. I have no complaints at all. Bob's CB done it right, no doubt.
Since our company prohibits any direct battery connection I swapped to 10 amp fuse out for a 15 amp in the fuse block that powers the factory on dash CB connection and all is working well. Idling it's holding a steady 14.1v and when transmitting it only drops to 13.5v. SWR on the single Wilson 2000 is 1.3:1 across the band..

50 miles? I call B.S. on that one. It's a known "fact" that Bob's radios have no more than a 5 mile range, nome sayin'?

Mr. Hopper, be sure to post those results on that "other" forum. Especially in light of "Mr. Pork Product" having recently posted another sarcastic bad report on the range of Bob's radios. But then, maybe you and I have been the lucky recipients of radios done right. Guess I'm exceptionally lucky, all three of mine that Bob's touched have turned out well and do 30-50 miles on a consistent basis.

It's amazing to me how stubbornly people will hold onto a misconception once it's implanted in their heads......

BTW, what are you using for a mic on the new radio? The SRA-198? Any thoughts of trying the new Palomar?
