    New Super Penetrator antenna

I just received my new super penetrator 500. This will be my first time to install on my base station. Any suggestions and help would be tremendous. Just want to make sure I do this correctly.

A book could be written on the subject, it's a very broad topic. The instructions with the antenna should be a fair enough guideline for you. Do you have specific questions? How do you intend to mount it? Give us a few more details and maybe we'll have some ideas or suggestions. A few things to remember......don't try to skimp on things like coax cable, and make sure it's electrically grounded in case of lightning strikes.

It's always a good idea to isolate any antenna from the mast by using solid fiberglass rod or equivalent, then wrap a common mode choke around the 2' or so of isolating mast with the coax but wrapping 5 turns neatly side by side over a 4.25" plastic bottle or PVC pipe, for completely isolation of the coax to get the best pattern & gain.

Also, I have heard from a trusted friend that the type of aluminum the new Penetrator uses for matching rod is poor quality and won't stand up to weather & power like the original old school Penetrator did.

Maybe custom hand-make a copy of the match from 10 gauge copper wire in case the OEM aluminum vaporizes.

I have a set of old original Penetrator matching rods from a mid-70s vintage, maybe I should order up some hard-drawn aluminum rod and start making them for sale.
I wonder if there would be a worthwhile market for them.

Anyway, let us know how it worked out for you.
